I'm looking for a kind of chair that rocks back all the way to the
top. I saw one of these once at a friend's house about 10 years ago (I
believe it was NFL-branded and fairly cheap, but I've checked
nflshop.com and they don't appear to sell them anymore) and haven't
seen one since. The back/bottom of the chair is one continuous curve, so you
can go from sitting straight up to lying basically flat on your back
in one smooth motion. The sitting surface, when upright, was about a
foot off the ground (much lower than a desk chair). The chair was
small (probably 18-20" wide, maybe 2' deep, and 3-4' tall). The one I
tried was fairly soft (covered all over in vinyl). I imagine this
would be in the $50 range. The chair does not have to be NFL-branded
(totally nonbranded would be preferable, actually). Any pointers to
one or more places to find one of these (online preferred, but a
physical store in the Boston area would be fine too) would be great!

Dear Ebailey,

Hi! Thank you for your inquiry!

My best answer would be to ask your friend where he got his!
Beyond that, having never actually seen the same chair you have, these
were the best fits to the description you listed:

Roko Chair
<a href="http://www.rokochairs.com/">http://www.rokochairs.com/</a>

Hope these help and have a great day!

Good luck,

I had a look at all the URLs listed, and none of them are what I'm
looking for. The closest one is VERNER PANTON on
<a href="http://www.designboom.com/eng/education/rocking/modern2.html">http://www.designboom.com/eng/education/rocking/modern2.html</a> - this is
the basic design, but much fancier than I'm looking for (what I
remember was basically vinyl wrapped around foam - pretty cheap).
Unfortunately I've long since fallen out of touch with the person who
had it. Any other thoughts?

Hmmm... thank you for your clarification, I think I now have a better
idea of what you're talking about, although surprisingly, this is a
remarkable tough question! Either way, let me see if I can help you a
little more:

Reason this answer was rejected by ebailey-ga:
Although some of the links posted by skis4jc-ga were interesting, most
of them were completely unrelated to my (very specific) question. For
example, none of the Back Jack, Phantom, Inverta, or All Weather Floor
Chairs are even rocking chairs, and these links were posted *after* I
posted my additional information that what I was looking for resembled
the VERNER PATTON chair on
http://www.designboom.com/eng/education/rocking/modern2.html.

The initial Comment by joey-ga was MUCH more valuable, because it
established a dialogue for clarification, rather than immediately
answering the question (and thereby putting a stake in the ground)
without the information I was looking for. Thanks, joey-ga, for the
great links.

Does it resemble any of the chairs on any of the following pages (so
that we have an idea of the design to which you refer?)

I think I know exactly what you're talking about because I sat in one
once, too. It was at a local stereo shop in their home theater
display room and it was an incredible chair. The closest thing I've
found to it is this one...

http://www.officedesigns.com/perchairbyin.html

The only downside is that it's $1400. It doesn't sound quite as
inexpensive as the one you're looking for.

Wow - that "Perfect Chair Classic II" looks amazing - oh if I could
afford that! :-) Thanks, gabe-ga, for making me drool over that one!
:-) We'll see what else folks come up with. It's too bad this is so
hard - it's a great little chair (and it is little)... Thanks for all
the help, folks!

Hi ebailey,

Ok, I know this isn't really what you are looking for, but it is worth
a look-see. A very interesting chair, IMHO!

We have a winner!!! The Nintendo Sport Rocker is EXACTLY what I'm
looking for - and the price is right ($84.95)!!! Thank you teach-ga!
If you could repost that as the Answer, you've definitely earned the
reward.

Additionally, thanks to everyone who responded - I've learned a lot
about rocking chairs in the past few days! --ebailey

I would love to, but I just applied to be a researcher and I'm just
waiting at the moment. I didn't see why you should wait though! Happy
Rocking!
