I want to find out more about what happened to a radio DJ in the San
Francisco area-- Vinnie on Alice Radio. I know that he left the
station for "personal reasons" but I want the full scoop! What
specifically caused him to leave the show. Was it drugs, depression?
I know the answer is out there somewhere.

Hi!

As Seth and Nicole already gave some usefull comments on the question,
however, the reasons in the article in the SF Gate
(http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2002/04/25/DD203150.DTL)
aren't very clear.

I found this explanation in the Usenet-archives of Google:

"SO WHAT'S HAPPENED TO VINNIE of Radio Alice's "Sarah & Vinnie
Show"? The five year vet of morning drive time has been off the air
for four days. ... The talk around the Radio Alice shack (very
high-level talk) Vinnie was sent on "a health retreat" after he became
so exuberant at a recent station party that he ended up flat on his
face on the floor. There are witnesses. ...
"This isn't the first time Vinnie's been missing in action. In
fact he had been back on the air for less than two weeks before, ah,
going to ground again... Guest hosts like comedian Scott Capurro and
Fox Sports guy Steve Mason have been filling in. ..."

Another one confirms this answer:

"He got canned because he became unreliable. Period. The new people on
the show are better than Vinnie was, anyway."

I hope I solved your mistery!

Greetings,
Frank

From the San Francisco Examiner:
http://www.examiner.com/pj_corkery/default.jsp?story=pj0424w
there is a short paragraph describing rehab and hostility.

Actually, he didn't leave for personal reasons:
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2002/04/25/DD203150.DTL
This article says he was fired because he was absent too much, he was
ABSENT for personal reasons.
