Hi! Thanks for the question.

I will approach the question and the research project by providing
links to web pages that provides lists of emergency equipments used by
police centers. It is obvious that some centers may use varying
equipment and ones that may yet to be mentioned. Some documents are in
PDF file so you will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader to read them. In
case you haven’t installed it yet here is a link so you could download
The Adobe Acrobat Reader
(http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html).

After considerable research, I think the best sources for information
on this type of equipment are stores which sells emergency equipments.
By providing different sources we could get a better coverage of your
question. The following links are as follows:

Since police websites do not give lists of the equipments they have it
would be helpful to find and emulate standards and other documents
used by different agencies when it comes to emergency equipment. The
following links therefore will provide you an idea on what are the
bare equipment necessities when it comes to operating such a police
emergency center.

The following pages mention equipments that must be maintained:

“…firearms, body Armor, impact weapons, chemical agents, portable
radios, restraining devices, lighting/vision equipment, first aid
supplies, safety/hazardous material equipment, radar, photographic
equipment, traffic cones and flares, evidence gathering equipment,
intoxilyzer, computers, riot gear and audio-visual equipment.”

http://www.seasidepd.org/jobdesc.htm

“There are now 31 Police Rescue operators, trained to use equipment
such as metal detectors, trapped person locaters, an emergency power
truck, mobile field kitchen and mobile field command bus with
sophisticated communication equipment. These officers are expert in
abseiling, climbing, single rope techniques and stretcher escorts with

Hi thanks for the information. Maybe you could research it a little
more. Are there any national or governmental agencies which have put
together a list of items required in an Operations Center? That would
be a great help.

Thanks,

Matt

Unfortunately, after some considerable time locating a government
agency which posts emergency equipments, I was not able to find much
information.

The National Emergency and Disaster Information System website however
posts emergency equipment manufacturers it is affiliated to and which
maybe suppliers of different government agencies dealing with
emergency situations.

"The National Emergency and Disaster Information System is a 24 x 7
web-based and call-in center established to provide first responders
and incident commanders with strategic intelligence, in the form of
'best practices', equipment and expertise, for handling a specific
emergency incident."

The following are suppliers of emergency equipments it is affiliated
with:

It may be possible to obtain inventories for existing centers, or
equipment requisition lists for new centers, from municipalities that
have created police emergency operations centers, by filing a FOIA
(Freedom of Information Act) request with either the police agency or
the unit of government that provides funding and oversight.
