We produce safety matches in Uganda, East Africa.  We are currently
trying to source a reliable and competitive supplier to supply us with
the Wooden Match Splints which are used for making matches.  The
specifications are 2 mm x 2mm x 42/43 mm well polished and imprignated
splits.  We would order these splints in quantities of a full 20'
container load and the packaging specs are that they should be in
cylindrical keg form to feed our machines manually.

In terms of location our preference would be for suppliers closer to
East Africa (perhaps Mauritius or Madgascar).  However we understand
that these splints can also be obtained in Asia competitively despite
the longer distance / higher freight cost and in particular Indonesia
may be a competitive country of origin.

In terms of pricing we would expect to pay not more than US$60 per
Million CIF Kampala, Uganda.  Please note the consignment would need
to be shipped upto Mombasa, Kenya (which is the nearest port) and from
Mombasa to Kampala it may be bought by road or rail.

On a FOB price one would be looking at US$30 per Million splints but
obviously the country of origin / distance is the issue and our
benchmark is the CIF price quoted above.
