Hi. I'd like to marry on a sunny day, and it isn't that easy in the
UK! I once saw a TV programme (could have been 'QED') on BBC World
about an Englishman who predicted the weather with amazing accuracy,
sometimes years in advance. How can I find out about him? The only
thing I remember is that he was dismissed as crazy by the
Meteorological Office in London for his non-conventional methods.
Thanks for helping. ont

Hi ont-ga:

The Englishman you saw was undoubtedly Piers Corbyn, a London-based
meteorologist who has shown uncanny accuracy predicting the weather
weeks, if not months, in advance.

The following two articles give good independent opinions of Corbyn:

Source: WIRED.com
Title: "Everyone Complains About the Weather... Piers Corbyn Is Doing
Something About It."
URL: http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/7.02/weather_pr.html
Quote:
"If I'm to believe Corbyn, his scrawls represent something
conventional science says cannot exist: a detailed weather forecast
that reaches nearly a year into the future.

How detailed? One convert says that Corbyn gave him a perfect
morning-to-midnight description of his wedding day. He could have
gotten something like that on the telly the night before, of course.
But Corbyn made the forecast six months ahead."

Source: The Weather Notebook
Title: "Visionary or Quack?
URL: http://www.weathernotebook.org/transcripts/1999/09/22.html
Quote:
"So, how does he do it? Though the details remain his secret, Corbyn's
method is basically a combination of old-fashioned empirical
forecasting with careful scrutiny of solar activity. Critics insist
that Corbyn's Solar Weather Technique must be considered a form of
quackery until he reveals his 'secrets' in a peer-reviewed journal --
which Corbyn has vowed he will do in good time."

In fact, Corbyn has his own company, WeatherAction, and his own
website at:

http://www.weatheraction.com/

where you can find contact information and presumably order your own
specific wedding forcast.

I hope this information helps you in planning your special event. If
you need any clarification of this information, please ask before you
rate this answer.
