I bought a surfboard and a surfboard canvas bag for it. I can't
figure out a way to take it to the beach and then get it back in the
bag and get both in the car w/o bringing sand into the car. The
canvas bag attracts sand. I have to put the bag down on the sand to
get the board out. I can't bring a towel to put under both items
because I have to drop the items first to spread the towel. Plus,
then I have a sandy towel to contend with. Is there something that
can be applied to the canvas bag that repels sand. Is there a way to
clean the sand off towels and canvas with a full washer/dryer.
Something that can be carried in the car?

Hi there sherpaj,

In going over some of the unanswered questions, I noticed this one

The Neat Sheet (http://www.theneatsheet.com/index.asp) is a sort of
blanket that you can put down that is water and sand repellent. The
problem is, as you noted above, you'll still have to put the canvas
bag down to spread out the sheet.

How about wrapping the board inside the canvas bag in the
"Neat Sheet" before loading in the car at home. Then unwrap, sheet
side down, at the beach.

I don't mean to make light of your problem -- but there is no way to
keep sand off of your bag nor out of your car. The only real solution
is to use a vehicle that you don't mind that it is full of sand.

I have heard that talcum powder is an excellent agent for removing
sand from your body. Give it a try with the board and bag, let me
know how it goes. Hang Ten!

Dear Sherpaj,

Have you considered using a small vacuum cleaner for cars? These
things can probably clean up the sand, and maybe also (as they are
small and portable) can clean up the canvas bag before you put it in
the car.

Leave the bag in the car with your towel, surf, walk back yo your
car....without sand surfing would not be surfing!
