I need a list of the 200 or so best known celebration songs, anthems
of a
sort from 1975 to the present. The type of song is like celebration by
Kool and the gang. I need a list so i can choose one to use in a
video.

Hi joew-ga,

So we're clear here -- are you asking for 200 songs that contain the
word "CELEBRATION" in the title or lyrics?  Or are you asking for 200
songs that people play at celebrations? A list that might include
songs like the Wedding March or Pomp and Circumstance? Or would you
like a list of the top 200 songs played at, say, a wedding reception.
Sort of a DJ's top 200?

Unless you just want a pre-made DJ list, I think to compile such a
vast list (200!) -- especially if we are to include 1975 to present --
is going to take a great deal of time. The chances that someone else
has already compiled a ready-made list matching your criteria is
small, so it will have to be searched, probably song-by-song, and
compiled from scratch.

Maybe you can redefine your question to increase your chances of
getting a suitable answer?

Sorry about that, actually to make it easier maybe if you just had the
500 most popular songs or 1000 most popular rock songs. I am looking
for songs for a coprorate event that have to do with thanking
customers and celebrating success. If you had a more general list i
could cull it. thanks

Thank you for the clarification. Now I see where you’re headed with
this. Ok, here’s what I’ve done for you.  I’ve done a good thorough
search and have compiled a “List of Lists” so to speak.

As you can imagine, everyone has their own idea about what constitutes
the “TOP” songs in any genre. So what I’ve done is selected those most
likely to meet your criteria and have provided you with links to those
lists below. Obviously you’ll see a lot of overlap, but I think that
from these lists you should be able to cull a nice set of well-known
songs that appeal to your entire audience.
