I Design and make jewelry. I Specialize in BareFoot Sandals. I have a
Customer who is a Skin Diver. She needs a Pair of BareFoot Sandals she
can wear in the Ocean. I used "Nymo D" thread - but they shrank up
about 5% after wearing in the Ocean and then drying. Can you recommend
another type of Stringing Material? I thought about "Stretch Magic" or
"Power Cord" - but these are "Oil based" and the Salt water would
probably cause them to deteriorate very quickly. They need to be
flexible and comfortable. As Well as Durable.

Greetings! I'm not certain what cord would best serve your needs but
have you considered purchasing a saltwater casting net and taking it
apart for the cord? Also, the steel/plastic Tigertail might work,
too. Good luck!

Where would I find a "Salt water casting net"? Would they be available
in stores where you purchase fishing tackle? And what is the diameter
of this cord? I need to string beads on it with holes about the size
of an Embroidery Needle. I was afraid that the Tiger Tail would be too
Stiff for comfort when you were walking in your BareFoot Sandals.
Thanks for the help though.

Greetings again! I finally found a source for casting nets but the
smallest diameter is 3/8" which would probably be too large. However,
it got me to thinking about saltwater fishing line. I searched the
same site and found a braided fiber saltwater fishing line but it may
be too small. Anyway, the links below are to various nylon and dacron
braided fishing line and I hope this helps in some way. I think fly
fishing line is cord and very tough, but I'm not certain how long it
would stand up in saltwater.

As a fellow crafter, I want to assist you in any way I can!

I've used monofilament fishing line, available from sports shops and
department stores, for beading. It's a nuisance to know, but very
strong and non-shrink.
