Thank you for asking a most interesting question! I've found two
circular beds, a heart-shaped bed, and several unusual canopy beds.
First, the round and heart-shaped beds. Since these are production
models, and not custom made, there should be no difficulty in
obtaining bed linens. Bedding for round and heart-shaped beds is
somewhat more expensive than rectangular bedclothes, but you should be
able to obtain a fairly wide variety of sheets, spreads, and
comforters for these beds. I would think an electric blanket of an
appropriate shape might be hard to find, though.

With a canopy bed, you have the advantage of being able to use
standard bedding, which will give you a much wider artistic field for
decorating your room. It's amazing how much you can change the look
and feel of a bedroom just by getting new sheets, spreads, and shams.
Here is a massive white cedar canopy bed that is quite striking. Most
canopy beds have a delicate, airy quality. This one is rugged. It
looks like the kind of bed that John Wayne would have slept in. It is
available in two styles, double rail and single rail. These would look
really elegant with a Navajo blanket draped across the top as a
canopy. For a sheer topper, a sheet with a Southwest pattern would
look nice.

Here's another wooden bed that is truly unique. Since no two branches
are shaped in the same way, every bed is a work of art unlike any
other:

Aspen Ridge offers a natural-wood canopy bed that I find very
appealing. The curves of the natural logs have a certain wild grace
that reminds me of a Native American "dreamcatcher."

Here is a classic: a very handsome queen-size poster bed that indeed
looks fit for a queen. I can see this fitting very nicely into
Buckingham Palace, with a 16th century Tudor tapestry as a bedspread.
The sleigh beds on the same site are also beautiful and unusual.

Another regal-looking bed is this mahogany four-poster (click on the

One of the most beautiful of all these beds, in my view, is this
handcrafted Balinese-style canopy bed made of carved teak:

In my search, I did not find any sources for beds or mattresses in
octagonal, pentagonal, or other polygonal shapes. I would think that
such a bed would probably need to be custom made. The sheets,
obviously, would also need to be made to order, unless you are willing
to do a great amount of tucking and re-tucking.
If you are considering custom-made beds, you might want to look into
an odd possibility that occurs to me: buy a large automobile body from
a salvage lot, gut the interior, and have a welder turn it into a bed!
As a Baby Boomer, I can just imagine a big old late-50s Cadillac with
a bed inside instead of seats. And you'd have the advantage of a
built-in radio. ;-)
I hope some of these ideas are useful to you. If any part of my answer
is unclear, or if any of the links do not function, please do not
hesitate to ask for clarification.
