I have a 1995 Ford Ranger, 2 wheel drive with a 3.0 liter v6 and the
extended cab. I had to replace the driveshaft carrier bearing. I
removed the entire drivshaft (2 pieces) then I had the new Carrier
bearing installed by a Automotive Machine Shop. I am certain they did
this part of the job properly, I.E, marking the driveshaft and
reasembling it exactly as it was prior to disasembly. However, when I
took apart the rear driveshaft, I did not mark it. Now the truck has a
vibration. My question is: What is the method for assembling the 2
piece driveshaft on this vehicle. I have removed and reinstalled the
rear driveshaft many times, but have not found the combination that
would eliminate the vibration.

I wonder if the carrier bearing failure and the unbalanced drive shaft
are related. It may be that you didn't notice the vibration - or it
wasn't transmitted - because of the faulty carrier bearing.

The quick solution is to have the drive shaft (presumable both
sections) balanced. I had a shaft shortened to accommodate an engine
conversion and 'rebalancing' the shaft was part of the process.

I forgot to mention that an unbalanced shaft could be the cause of the
carrier bearing failure.
