Im looking to buy a chemical variant of Super Glue:
N-2-butylcyanoacrylate, sometimes called simply butyl
cyanoacrylate or butylcyanoacrylate. I intend to use it
in a medical device, so it should be of medical grade.
The glue is used to close wounds instead of stitches.
(It is typically applied with a device similar to
a medicine dropper, but Im looking for just the liquid.)
Heres an example of the glue in use as Histoacryl, a
product made by Germanys Aesculap, a division of
B. Braun:

However, the quantity of glue in each of these Aesculap
units is too small for my purposes. I need to have the glue
in quantities of half of a liter or more. I even phoned
Aesculap in Germany about buying the glue in larger
containers, but they dont sell it like that.
Ideally, I would locate a supplier in the U.S., but I could
order from a Canadian or European or even Asian supplier who
would ship to my U.S. address or to my Canadian address.
The glue is used medically more widely in Canada and Europe
than in the U.S. |

From the 3M web site, I've just learned of their
Vetbond Tissue Adhesive, a veterinary product employing
the adhesive that I'm interested in. Apparently, it
only comes in a 3mL package (which is still way too
small for me), but I'll check with them further.
Dermabond is a slightly different compound, as someone
mentioned. It's not exactly what I'm looking for,
although it's possible that I would settle for it
if my current search turns out to be fruitless.
I'm also going to poke around in the web version
of the Thomas Register, which is principally industrial.
Is there a medical equivalent to the TR?
