How to send an email with html text and images without having the
attachment icon (staple) appearing?
That means you get an email with images and formatted text straight
away in your inbox window. No need to open an attachement.

hyperga,

Email is and always has been a text only communication tool.
Attachements were invented to allow the transmission of files along
with the email. HTML formatted email is simply an email with an
attached HTML file that certain email programs identify and render.
Not all email programs will flag the message as having an attachment,
this is a design decision made by the programmers of the email
program. There is no way to prevent email programs from flagging a
message with an attachement if the email is to contain renderable
HTML. You could place HTML code in the normal text body of an email
but it may simply appear as HTML source code instead of a rendered
HTML page. This is also a decision made by the programmers of a
specific email program.

If you wish to send an email and include an HTML attachment but not
include any embedded files such as graphics then you create the HTML
as normal but make any and all references to embedded files using
absolute URLs. For example, to include the Google Answers logo you
would need to use the URL
"https://answers.google.com/answers/answers-logo-sm.gif" instead of
using a URL like "answers/answers-logo-sm.gif". This will require
that all images by hosted on a server where you have access rights.

So what about the advertising you get sometimes? There is no
attachement and it works on PC, Mac, Outlook, Netscape, Eudora, even
hotmail.
I took some screenshots to show what it is all about.
Would you mind to have a look:

hyperga,

Just based on what I can see in those screenshots, I would have to say
that Outlook Express, for MacOS at least, does not view a single HTML
file as an attachement. The associated images in those messages would
be hosted by the email sender at their website and referenced within
the attached HTML file. To be positive I would need to see the
original text of the message. Outlook Express for Windows used to
call the original text "Message Source" and you could look at this
using a menu option under File. I have not used Outlook Express in
several versions nor have I ever used it on MacOS so this option may
have moved or been removed.

I hope this information helped you.

If you use Outlook, Eudora, StarOffice, Mozila, Netscape, etc: You may
insert your Html page in the body of the text (all this Programs
suported, that) and send the mail in Html format.
If you need view the mensage before sending, send to yourself and
forward.
You can save the mensaje to *.eml (this format save the images
included in the mesages).
Bye, Ulises.
