I am pretty sure that the Klez virus is bogging down my PC's. I have
McAfee and we do these scans and clean and delete, but typing is slow,
things don't load well, it is yuk!
I would like a really good, on-line, easy to use fix for the Klez
virus. I am willing to pay a fair price.

Hello pendleton,

And thanks for your question.

Searching: online klez virus removal tool , I came across the
following tools for you:

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.klez.removal.tool.html

Here, Symantec offers an online Klez virus removal tool.

"Symantec offers a tool to remove infections of all known variants of
W32.Klez@mm and all known variants of W32.Elkern."

They continue:

"Note about W32.Klez.gen@mm detections:

W32.Klez.gen@mm is a generic detection that detects variants of
W32.Klez. Computers that are infected with W32.Klez.gen@mm have most
likely been exposed to either W32.Klez.E@mm or W32.Klez.H@mm. If your
computer is detected as infected with W32.Klez.gen@mm, download and
run the tool. In most case, the tool will be able to remove the
infection.

What the tool does

The W32.Klez Removal Tool does the following:

It terminates all processes that are associated with W32.Klez@mm or
W32.Elkern.
It deletes the W32.Klez@mm services.
It removes the registry entries that were created by W32.Klez@mm.
It detects all types of W32.Klez@mm and W32.ElKern infections, and
repairs files that can be repaired."

Continue reading this page for instructions on how to download and run
their FixKlez.com removal tools. In my personal experience, this
Symantec utility does a better cleansing than a McAffee scan and
repair of klez.

Bruin Online has a good information page on the klez virus here:
http://www.bol.ucla.edu/alert/20020607.html , and also recommends the
free Symantec utility listed above.

The AntiVirus Resource page at http://virusall.com/downrem.html , has
a number of links to virus removal tools. If you scroll down below the
halfway point, you will find w32.klez family. The center column is
actually clickable links to software (although they don't particularly
look like hyperlinks in my browser) Here you will find links to
BitDefender, F-secure, Kaspersky Labs and Trend Micro, just in case
the Symantec solution fails to solve your problem.

Good luck regaining your computer's performance!
