Hi brendan64-ga:

While exact figures for numbers of species varies with time, the
following figures allow us to create a definite ordering.

Insects: 751,000 species
Fish: 19,056 species
Birds: 9,040 species
Reptiles: 6,300 species
Amphibians: 4,184 species
Mammals: 4,000 species

Keep in mind that this is just for described (or discovered) species.
There are likely still many, many species that have not been
described.
