Will be visiting San Francisco the week of November 17th with 3 other
guys to see the sights and a Raider football game- On Tuesday 11/19 we
had hoped to see a cabaret show with female impersonators, such as
"Guys R Dolls"-Unfortunately we cannot find a show of this nature that
plays on Tuesday evenings at a reasonable hour- Trannyshack, a drag
review, doesn't start until midnight, which is too late for us-Also we
are not looking for a strip club-Any suggestions for this type of
risque entertainment or comparable fun for 4 middle aged, somewhat
adventurous guys?

Are you looking for gay, straight, bi, trans? Or all of the above?

Clarification of Question by flash-ga on 12 Sep 2002 11:48 PDT
Dear Benk- All the guys are heterosexual, but are looking for a unique
fun filled evening- As passive patrons at a show the sexual persuasion
of the performers is irrelevant- By the way as long as the "show" is a
hoot and a lot of fun it doesn't need to have a sexual flavor to it.

It sounds like a lot of fun so I hope you enjoy your trip! BTW If
you pick up a San Francisco Weekly or San Francisco Gay Guardian they
would both have listings for "Drag" shows / caberet shows. Its just a
great place for show listings. They can be found almost everywhere.

Have Fun,

Dear Morningstar- As per your correspondence of 9/12 since your answer
is obviously incorrect please retract it so that we may move forward
and hopefully get one that is on the money- Your immediate attention
to this would be appreciated- Regards- Stephen

Dear Flash -
Once again I appoligize for my lack of timeliness. I have been
trying to work with your schedule and confines to find you a adequate
show. The Stud bar does have a Tuesday night Drag/caberet type show
which you all ready know of though. The show starts at Midnight.
Most of the women would be out and about in the bar area from 10pm to
3 am. With any kind of show of this nature most do not start until
this time.
As far as retracting the answer I appoligize as this is not an
option we are given. You have the option to repost and request a
refund for the information given.
I do have several calls in to the local genre and if I get a flag
on a good show I would still post an update to this thread.

Warmest wishes,

 morningstar

You may consider dining at AsiaSF. A quote from their web:
"...the restaurant is widely known for its gender illusionists, 3-Star
Cal-Asian cuisine and signature cocktails..."
Basically, those serving the food also take turns doing performances
during the course of the meal. The web site will give you a good idea
of the entertainment and menu, which has received positive reviews.
Unfortunately, they do not list their hours of operation. (Some
review sites indicate that they operate daily, others indicate that
they operate Wednesday-Sunday). However, they do provide a way to
make reservations online or by phone, so you can attempt to confirm
the date for your party.

Also, if you have nights other than Tuesday available, you might
consider seeing Beach Blanket Babylon. It is the longest running
review show in the United States, and is certainly an experience
unique to San Francisco (with the exception of when the show takes its
act on the road). While I wouldn't describe it as a "sexy" show, it
could perhaps be described as bawdy. Transgender performers are not
an element of the show... instead, very, very, extraordinarily large
hats share the spotlight with the musical performers.

A recent description of Beach Blanket Babylon can be found at the
following link. It is possible that reading it will take the surprise
out of the "story line", though I doubt it will diminish the spectacle
of the show.

Have a fun time in San Francisco.

Dear Snapanswer- Happy Friday morning- Thanks for your imput-We had
wanted to see Beach Blanket Babylon, unfortunately it doesn't play on
Tuesdays and there was no other available time in our schedule to see
it- AsiaSF is also a good suggestion however several of my partners in
crime have dietary constraints and thus this also wouldn't for us-
Even though they didn't work for us we appreciate your suggestions-
Warmest regards- Stephen
