I recieved a photo from my grandmother a few years ago. (See links
Below.)

It a photo of JFK on the day he was shot, but appears to be a photo
taken earlier in the day, the seating arrangement is different than
the arrangement on the parade route.

I am not a JFK enthusiast, but I have seen lots of photos and listened
to lots of crackpots discuss the subject of his death. I have never
seen anything like this photo and am wondering if it has any
historical or financial value.

P.S. I have placed a "watermark" over the photo on the link in order
to make it worthless to copy.

Hi rsawdust:

Thanks for the fascinating question! I also am "not a JFK enthusiast"
- so hopefully I can give you an unbiased opinion of the historical
and monetary value of your Grandmother's photograph.

Before I get into what I've found, I think this photo has *great
value* as a family memento - something you can show the kids when
you're your Grandmother's age.

Historical Value:

Almost all of the photo archives of that day focus around the time
shortly before and shortly after the assassination when Jackie was in
the back seat with her husband.

I've listed some of the photo galleries (or pages with lots of photos)
I've found below:

The Death Of John Kennedy

Death of JFK: Multimedia Archive

Since your photograph of Kennedy is not near the time of the
assassination (unless they were doing some serious shifting of seats
while the car was in motion), I don't think that your photo has great
historical value. There were likely hundreds, if not thousands of
photographs taken during that part of the motorcade - if they were of
any historical significance, you would think that the web would be
peppered with them.

On the other hand, the fact that you *don't* see pictures with this
seating arrangement could mean that they *are* rare. I would suggest
contacting the following Kennedy scholars with your photo and asking
them. You could send them the same URLs you sent to Google Answers. [I
didn't want to send them the photos myself, since I'm not sure you
want me acting as an "agent" for you.]

I would also suggest contacting the following JFK institutions and
asking them whether your photo is of value.

Monetary Value:

[The monetary value of your photo will likely revolve around what you
find out about its historical value. Since that is unclear, I'll
assume the worst, that your photo has little historical value.]

I was able to find a couple of "similar" amateur photographs of JFK's
motorcade taken that fateful November day. Both the photos that I have
found so far are:

* Of equal (or better) photographic "quality" than yours.
* Currently selling for under US$20.
* Are with the more "traditional" seating arrangement shortly before
his assassination.

Have a look at them at:

JFK President Kennedy Assassination Photo
Current Bid: US$16.95

JFK Kennedy Historic Photo s RARE from Dallas
Current Bid: US$10.00
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2100430839

Given this, I don't think your photo has any appreciable financial
value (unless you find out that it has historical value).

I hope that this information has at least set you on the right path to
finding out the value of your Grandmother's photo. If you have need of
any clarification about my answer, please use the Clarification

Thanks again!

Hi:

In my original answer, I said:

"[I didn't want to send them the photos myself, since I'm not sure you
want me acting as an "agent" for you.]"

If you *would* like me to contact these people for you by email (phone
calls would be too expensive for me), I'd be only too happy to. Just
tell me how you'd like to play it. :-)

Thanks.

Just as much as I was wanting an answer, I was wanting info on places
to further research my subject.

This answer is what I needed to get me on my way to finding more on my
own.

Thanks!
