I am looking for a Side by Side refrigerator that is only 30" wide X
65" tall and 24-30" deep. I want to replace the existing GE side by
side that I have with those measurements, because it now is over
20 yrs. old. Cabinets were built in above the refrigerator, and to
one side, with very little fudge space, so size is very important, as
is the side by side refrigerator style.
I wanted at least 19 cubic feet in a white color with
filtered water and ice through the door. If possible, priced under $1,500.

Hi-

From what I can gather from internet search and a couple of calls to
appliance dealers the smallest width new side-by-side manufactured
today is 31" wide.

Do you have any "wiggle room" on the width or height.

There are over/under refrigerators that will fit the space. Would you
consider one of those?

Also, it would be helpful to know your general location, so that we
can identify a dealer within reasonable shipping distance.

I found one reference to a Maytag model GS2126PED
21 Cubic feet Side by Side Non-Dispenser, All Glass Shelves, Icemaker
Ready, Gallon Doors, 30.5"W x 64"H

But it seems to be an export model or out of production. I could try
to track that down if you have that extra 1/2 inch.

When I have your answers, I'll see what more I can do.

1. My location is in Clearwater Beach, FL.
2. I have some wiggle room in height, but don't use the hinge
measurement from the manufacturer, use the actual height because the
cabinet that was built over the (existing) refrigerator space only
extends one-half of the depth. (meaning that the cabinet above the
fridge is 15" in depth, and the fridge is 30" deep. The door hinge
runs 1-2" taller than the height of the fridge, but it is outside of
my cabinet, so it's not a critical measurement)
3. As for the width of the fridge, one side has built in cabinets--so
no room to move...the other side is open--lining up even with a french
door into the pantry, which is almost always open. When the door is
open, the refrigerator and the door line up perfectly, so I wouldn't
want to go over 30-31 in width.
4. One more thing... as for the water filtration for ice and
water:the cabinet above the refrigerator is fairly useless because it
is hard to get to. I considered sticking the filtration device up
there if I had to--if it added depth to the unit to position it on the
back. In other words, if the filtration didn't come stock, I still
would want to have it because w/o it, ice and cold water taste funny.
5. Lastly, this isn't easy. My refrigerator is inefficient, noisy,
and on it's last legs, but I don't want to rip cabinets out just to
get a new one. None of the new ones fit into the space. A couple
months ago, even the lights inside went out. I got scared it was
finally dying and looked for a replacement, w/o any luck. Last week,
the lights came back on! But still, we've lived here for 20 years,
and it was old when we moved in, so it's now even older.
