"Internet users" sounds as if you mean "normal people" like you and me... most of whom won't use any of those MTAs (mail transfer agents). They'll just use a MUA (mail user agent) aka email client such as MS Outlook Express or Eudora or Agent to connect to the email server of their provider -- and their *provider* will then be running something such as sendmail or Postfix or qmail or Exim or MSexChange Server or whatever. Do you mean how many companies/providers use sendmail vs postfix? Or how many end users? (After all, most end users do not make a conscious choice; they just go with what their provider or company has.) And "internet sites" sounds as if you mean "web sites" -- most web sites don't include an MTA (though many sites use scripts which can send email, such as feedback email, to the people who run the site, and then an MTA will usually be involved somewhere along the line). Or do you mean "companies" with "internet sites"? |
