Hi funbags!!
First of all you donīt need to uninstall the MS Internet Explorer to
use Netscape in your PC. You can use the Internet Explorer browser as
an alternative option if some web page or web service (like Windows
Update) is incompatible with the Netscape browser.
Netscape 7 browser renderize pages faster than Internet Explorer.
The new Netscape 7, besides to win in rapidity to Internet Explorer,
incorporates new elements that facilitate navigation, and that were
not available in neither browsers.
In the first place it allows to browse by several pages within the
same window through tabs. In each tab a different page can be loaded,
in the style of already known Opera browser (another interesting
option).
In addition it allows to create groups of favorites in a same icon, so
that when doing click on the same one, will open a tab by each one of
the pages that form the group.
It incorporates a new built in download manager who allows to manage
and control all the downloads that are being made.
It allows to save complete web pages, including the images, so that no
longer it will return to appear the problem that to a saved page the
images gone.
It has an administrator of cookies, who automatically activates when
receiving a cookie, and he shows the information to us that is
contained within it.
It incorporates a passwords manager from which the list of saved
passwords can be seen for the different web pages, all the
information on the passwords is encripted.
It include a messenger, an e-mail client, a web Radio player, etc.
But remember that: MS Internet Explorer is compatible with the 99% of
the web pages in the internet. It is not the same with Netscape and
Opera browser because the webmasters optimize the pages to the most
popular browser.

I recomend to you two web pages to visit and read and two large but
very useful articles from Netscape:

Hi funbags,

Just a few additions to the great answer that livioflores gave you
that might help you.

First of all, Its nearly impossible (but possible) to eliminate
Internet Explorer from Microsoft Operating systems. And its not
necessary or recommended. (as livioflores stated).

When you first open up Netscape, it most likely will prompt you that
this is not the default web browser for your profile in XP. It will
ask you if you want to associate all web sites you click on (i.e.
links to websites in email etc) with Netscap, and probably a checkbox
that will allow you to "not ask this question again"

If you ever click the E (explorer) icon it will more than likely
prompt the same type of question. If you want to stick with netscape
you want to say no to that and check the dont ask me again box.

Hope this information is helpful!
