I've emailed a dozen or so jewellers (as well as the British
Jeweller's Association) with this query, and so far have one very
positive reply.
Wedding Service UK's jewellery section:
lists one jeweller who will hire , and though she is not based in
London, she is prepared to hire for London events.

If you are in the London area, Hatton Garden is the manufacturing
jewellers quarter, and it could well be worth a personal visit to look

I have also heard - though I can't confirm - that some of the VERY
