hello david31,
Thanks for a great question!
I searched home soda fountain and found some interesting links and
information:
http://www.gameroomantiques.com/AtlantaShow.htm shows a wonderful
anitque style soda fountain for your home. It is described as:
"ANTIQUE STYLED FREESTANDING SODA FOUNTAIN - FULLY FUNCTIONAL
Finally, there is a fully-functional antique styled soda fountain that
can be placed in your home or office.
CAN PLACE ANYWHERE - It is a freestanding unit that can be used
anywhere that has electricity. Plumbing is not necessary for this
self-contained system.
EASY TO MAKE - You simply pour 2 ounces of any of your flavored syrups
into a glass and add 10 ounces of carbonated water from the gooseneck
dispenser to create a refreshing drink. Add ice cream or one of our
additives (cherry, vanilla or chocolate) and you'll be reminded of the
simpler days of yesteryear.
COMES WITH EVERYTHING YOU NEED -The Soda Fountain comes with a 3
gallon product tank that you fill with cold water, a five pound CO2
cylinder (which needs to be filled prior to use), a regulator and
internal plumbing. The system automatically carbonates the water.
The freestanding model is equipped with refrigeration and only needs
to be plugged into a standard 15 amp circuit.
DURABLE CONSTRUCTION - The base unit of the soda fountain is
constructed from stainless steel with a cast aluminum gooseneck
dispenser, custom tap handle, plastic condiment inserts with stainless
covers, and a stainless and aluminum drip tray. The unit comes with 2
liters of soda syrup and information on how to order your favorite
syrups and accessories direct from the factory via mail, phone, fax or
e-mail.
SPECIFICATIONS:
Countertop Width 48", Depth 28", Height 59"
Base Unit Footprint: Width 28", Depth 24"
Electrical: 115 Volts, 1.5 AMPS
Weight: 281 pound
PRICE: Full freestand unit: $2300 plus $195 shipping. SPECIAL: $1995
plus $195 shipping.
Component module without freestanding bar and withoug refrigeration:

The component module allows you to provide your own refrigeration
(necessary for optimum performance) to create a built-in custom
application. See: Photo "
The Home Theater Marketplace lists supplies for Home Soda Fountains
here:
http://www.marketware-tech.com/sodsyrsupone.html
"Mix and match syrups for 12 one liter bottles of soda
Available in 11 delicious flavors, our Soda Syrups and Additives are a
fun way to please nearly every taste. These Soda Syrups and Additives
are used in our Original 1911 Brand Soda Fountain Machine available
HERE.
Soda Syrups must be purchased in full case lots (12 liters) and mixing
and matching is allowed.
Cola Soda Syrup, Sarsaparilla Soda Syrup, Ginger Ale Soda Syrup, Cream
Soda Syrup, Orange Creme Soda Syrup, Strawberry Creme Soda Syrup,
Emerald Creek (Lime)Soda Syrup, Lemon-Lime Soda Syrup, Cherry Soda
Additive, Vanilla Soda Additive, Chocolate Soda Additive"
Their 1911 Brand Soda Fountain appears to be identical to the one
listed above and sells here for $1899, however at
http://www.marketware-tech.com/comsyssodfou.html they also have a
Component System for Do-It-Yourself or Custom Installations for only
$899. This may be of interest to you.
The above 1911 Soda Fountain also appears at
http://www.877popcorn.com/homesodashop.html for $1795! And, as a
matter of fact, here for only $1520 -
http://www.cookathomeappliances.com/paragon/para_10.html .This seems
to be the most popular choice for Home Theater buffs and game room
owners installing a soda fountain.
at http://www.geocities.com/timr21/ , there is an interesting article
on "Build Your Own In-Home Soda Dispenser" The author notes:
"If you're a nut about fresh fountain drinks (like I am), and colas
out of cans and bottles just don't do it for you anymore...then this
is the place!
Say good-bye to high-priced fountain drinks from restaurants and
convenience stores! You can have free-flowing soft drinks in your home
for just pennies a day.
I'm not selling anything...I just want this page to be a place where
people can get info on this subject. I spent over a year trying to
figure out how to put a soda dispenser in my home, and only in the
last few months have I been able to make all the parts come together.
What I intend for this page is to supply you with parts, equipment,
and syrup distributors from all over the country to help you install
your own soda fountain in your home -- for a lot less money than some
companies would like you to spend."
I think you will find very good information here should you decide to
build your own, and info on supplies and syrups if you buy ready made.
http://rtmcollectibles.safeshopper.com/55/cat55.htm?898 has an
assortment of commercial quality air cooled bars for home and
commercial use. They don;t appear to dispense drinks, but are very
attractive bars / coolers and can probably be fitted with do it
yourself dispensers as mentioned above. Their prices start about
$6000.
The National Restaurant Association trade show pages list exhibitors
of their shows and is searchable. Searching for fountain syrups and
suppliers brought up a list of 8 at
