I purchased an oil painting in 1989 done by Henry Gordon which was
painted in the "Monet" style, and the name of the painting is "Garden
Path". This painting was purchased in Boston from Wentworth Gallery
& Graphiks. His bio. said, " born in 1959. Both of his parents were
fine artists, and trained their son starting at 11 years old. He
studied art in New England." At the time I bought the painting, I was
told his wife was also an artist and her name was"Lyly" (I believe
this to be her last name). I contacted this gallery some time ago, and
was told they could not help me with any information( it appeared they
had changed direction and are more into prints vs. origional works of
art). My question is, can you supply me with information so that I
might get in touch with galleries that currently carry his paintings? |

Hi Searchin,
I found a gallery that carries one Henry Gordon painting.
There is another gallery as well with a Henry Gordon painting but Im
not quite sure its the same Henry Gordon.
Are you looking for more galleries or should I post this as an answer?
Thanks.

Since Henry Gordon is a common name and I don't know how many of them
might be artists, I would sure like to know as many as possible...does
the artist that you found fit the criteria that I posted re: age,
style of painting , studied in New England and have a wife who is also
an artist?
I have found one artist who does go by Henry Gordon but he is not the
right one as he died about 50 years ago!
I believe at the time I bought the painting the gallery said he was
living in Massachusetts, and there are quite a few " artist colonies"
along the coastline of that state.

Hi again,
I am very sure that the Henry Gordon painting I located is the one you
want. This is the description next to the painting.
Gordon received his degree from the Mass. College of Fine Art with
honor and merit. He currently lives in New England producing palette
knife oils on canvas that have a marvelous captivating light quality.
His interior scenes also give us a feeling of tranquility. Gordon
states that in his early academic training, he was influenced by the
impressionist artists, especially Monet.
I searched for additional galleries with Henry Gordon paintings but
without any luck. This is all I have.
Regards,
