Hi melheart:
Thanks for the question.
Given your intended usage and your location, I think the best bet for
you is the following company:

Ordering Info: They don't have direct e-purchasing, but they are
located near you and you can contact them at:

Why don't you surf around this page and see what catches your eye and
what fits the other requirements for your thesis (e.g., page size,
number of pages, etc.)?
I'm pretty sure the other spring back binders I was able to find won't
suit your purpose. They are either made for stamp collecting (i.e.,
made to hold thicker, odd-sized stamp pages)

http://www.leuchtturm.com/en/kabe/en_kbbinapol.htm
or are made of aluminum and have the springs on the "short side"

Another place you can look is your school's graduate office and/or
your school's bookstore. It's quite possible that if your school
requires you to use a spring back binder that they'd have somewhere
for you to purchase one. (Why not, if they can make money at it?!?) At
the very least, they'd know where to send you - and it might even be
closer than Long Island! :-)
I hope this helps you. If you need clarification, please ask for it
using the Clarification feature - before you rate this answer.
Good luck with the thesis.
