Hello springbok - thanks for your question.

John Blow composed an anthem to celebrate the Battle of Blenheim but
the only reference to it on the net that I've found is here:

http://www.spinnst.at/BZ/archlute.html

He composed well over 100 anthems and unfortunately I can't find the
name of this particular one online, or even find one dated between the
battle in 1704 and Blow's death in 1708.

There's some biographical information here:

http://www.hnh.com/composer/blow.htm

And this site says he wrote 115 anthems:

http://www.hoasm.org/VIIA/Blow.html

There are lots of links to info on Blow here:

http://www.geometry.net/composers/blow_john.php

But to track down the actual title of the anthem I think you'll have
to try a library. I hope the bibliography here will be helpful:

http://stevenestrella.com/composers/composerfiles/blow1708.html

Hope this is useful. Let me know if anything is unclear.

Regards - Leli

search terms: "battle of Blenheim" oratorio OR music
              then "john blow" anthem

After a spot of bother trying to logon, I was delighted to be able to
break through eventually and read " Leli's" comprehensive response.
Many thanks and I hope my gratitude is conveyed to Leli.
