Question ID: 65500
I am living in Europe and staying at a friend's apartment where he has
satellite TV with more than 200 channels in many languages. To make
channel surfing less frustrating, I am looking for a means of tracking
what is on, when, what channel, what language, etc.

What I am looking for (the satellite TV Guide Holy Grail)
Ideally, I would like a freeware or cheapware user friendly database
program on my Palm III (monochrome display) that would be able to be
the ultimate TV guide for hundreds of channels and enable me to search
by what is on, or by channel with English language, or by sports (e.g.
Genre of programming), etc. In order to approach the ideal, the
software would need to be automatically "sync-able" via the Palm
cradle to collect from the Internet (similar to the way that AvantGo
works), parse, and update the program information (a week worth of
programming would be ideal, but anything more than a couple days would
do- this would quickly be a large database).

I would prefer that my "answer" take the form of a link to a
pre-existing product for the Palm that can do this, but if that is not
possible, I would settle for a very robust, comparable web based
solution. Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

Here are two options for you - both appear to fit your criteria.

DIGIGUIDE
=========
http://www.digiguide.com/index.shtml

-Costs less than 15p per week
-Works on Palm
-Can even work as a custom channel with Avantgo
-Only works for UK programs, but their site says Europe channels will
be available in August/September 2002

ZAVAL
=====
http://www.zaval.org/products/atv/user_guide/

-Appears to be free
-Works on Palm
-Seems to cover everything:

Keywords used:

palm europe "tv guide" software
://www.google.com/search?q=palm+europe+%22tv+guide%22+software

I trust this answers your question. If any portion of my answer is
unclear, please ask for clarification.

Best wishes,
