Dear jandow-ga

The act was "Bob Williams and Louie"
There are only a few mentions that I could find.

Bob Williams and Louie - featured in a Christmas Special with Bing
Crosby -- Broadcast 12/25/65 - It is available on VHS video at this
site:
http://www.fesfilms.com/BingCrosbyVideos.html

The same program is described as "Bob Williams and his dog act (this
dog is the weirdest you've ever seen!)."
http://www.a-1video.com/bing.htm

On a site about Perry Como and his shows, about half way down there is
the following: "Bob Williams and his dog. Bob is Editor of the
courier/tribune and coined the catchphrase "Always get the dogs name!"
http://www.home.istar.ca/~kokomo/chapters/como_shows.htm

I've searched the catchphrase without any luck.

Please ask for a clarification if you are unsure of any part of this
research.

This one was a challenge I started off with variations on
louie +dog +act +variety OR Vaudville +sullivan
then tried +vegas. This eventually brought me "Bob Williams and his
dog act"
which led me to explore "bob williams" +louie +show

Not only did you answer a very difficult question, but gave a source
to get a video tape of the act for which I was searching. Many
attempt by me and several friends have previously failed.
