I am using an HP G85 all-in-one printer on an XP operating system. HP tells me that my printer uses PCL3 (Printer Control Language). I would like to find the printer control codes that would instruct the printer to print ASCII formats in Portrait or Landscape, regular and condensed. |

Hi cass2422: I had some initial difficulty finding the information you requested. Once I discovered to search for "PCL 3" as opposed to "PCL3", thing went a whole lot more smoothly. :-) I have been able to find the following for you w.r.t. control codes for your PCL 3-based printer: Portrait or Landscape: ********************** Control Codes: §&l0O [1B][26][6C][30][4F] Selects portrait orientation §&l1O [1B][26][6C][31][4F] Selects landscape orientation Source: http://www.ajp.clara.net/hp.htm#Page ASCII Character Set: ******************** Control Code: §(0U [1B][28][30][55] Selects ASCII character set Source: http://www.ajp.clara.net/hp.htm#Fonts Character and Line Spacing (i.e., regular, proportional, or condensed): *********************************************************************** Control Codes: §(s0P [1B][28][73][30][50] Selects monospacing §(s1P [1B][28][73][31][50] Selects proportional spacing §&l6D [1B][26][6C][36][44] Selects 6 lines per inch spacing Source: http://www.ajp.clara.net/hp.htm#Fonts This page (http://www.ajp.clara.net/hp.htm) also contains good introductory information on using these control codes: http://www.ajp.clara.net/hp.htm#Introduction as well as many other useful codes.
