Hello fleabiter,

Thanks for your question.

Windows Media Player has an accessory program available call Windows
Media 7 Power Toys. This works with all current versions of Windows
Media Player and includes a utility called cleanmru.exe, which cleans
the "Most Recently Used" files from the drop down lists in Media
Player.

This free utility is availble for download here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/en/download/default.asp

This page, http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q268904&
, offers a description of these utilities including:

"Most Recently Used Cleaner

This PowerToy clears the Most Recently Used Files list in Windows
Media Player 7. This is the list you see on the bottom of the File
menu that displays your most recently viewed content. You must quit
Windows Media Player 7 before running this PowerToy."

I trust this has answered your question.

Best regards,

how do i run the utility (no icon)?

Hello again,

If you have installed it in the default directory, it will most likely
be in c:\program files\windows media 7 powertoys\player\cleanmru.exe.
Simply double click this file.

If this seems not to be the case, search files and folders from the
start menu / find / files or folders for cleanmru.exe and double click
the resulting file that it finds.

It also may have placed an icon on your Start / Programs Menu under
Media Player or Media Player PowerToys.

Once you find the file, you can right click on it, hold the mouse
button and drag it to your desktop. When you release, click "create
shortcut here" and it will be there for you in the future.

Regards,
