I want the text, in German, of the second and third verses of Amazing
Grace as sang by Lena Romanoff in her CD "Arioso - Sacrad Songs &
Arias". An MP3 file containg Ms. Romanoff singing this hymn can be
downloaded at http://artists.mp3s.com/artist_song/718/718291.html One
translation of Amazing Grace is located at
http://www.charlesgarrison.com/germpardon.html and is titled
"Erstaunliche Anmut", but this does not seem to contain the desired
text.

Dear w3tno,

These are the exact German lyrics Ms. Romanoff sings:

"Ein schöner Tag ward uns beschert, wie es nicht viele gibt,
Von reiner Freude ausgefüllt und Sorgen ungetrübt.
Und was das Schicksal euch auch bringt, was immer kommen mag,
Es bleibt euch die Erinnerung an einen schönen Tag.

Und was das Schicksal euch auch bringt, was immer kommen mag,
Es bleibt euch die Erinnerung an einen schönen Tag."

Please note that these words do not have much in common with John
Newton's original lyrics. In fact, they translate approximately as
follows:

"A beautiful day has been bestowed to us, as there are not many alike,
Filled with pure joy and unclouded by sorrows.
And whatever destiny may bring you, whatever may come,
You'll always have the memory of a beautiful day.

And whatever destiny may bring you, whatever may come,
You'll always have the memory of a beautiful day."

These German lyrics, written by a Klose-Schniersch, used to be quite
well-known in Germany since singer Lena Valeitis had some success with
this German version of "Amazing Grace" a couple of years ago, though
in that popularized recording the lines were arranged slightly
different than in the version Ms. Romanoff sang. To view Frau
Valeitis' lyrics, please follow this link:
