I'm looking for detailed statistics and information on the current

In particular I would like statistics on ratios of doctors to

Dear nics-ga

Because of the nature of your question my answer will be contained
within these links:

For the current situation in Japan read the very comprehensive
information supplied by the Statistics Bureau MPHPT, JAPAN. It covers
1992 – 2002 with data on doctor / patient ratios, hospital beds /
population and a host of other data.

http://www.indiana.edu/~japan/intguid2.html - National Clearinghouse
for U.S.-Japan Studies has links to many websites, articles and
statistics on demographic change in Japan, the increasing aging
population, lifestyle changes and the Ministry of Health, Labour and
Welfare in Japan.

The Japanese Embassy website in Singapore has additional information
on the health care in Japan

http://www.nyu.edu/projects/rodwin/lessons.html is a study of Japanese
Health Care

The WHO CENTRE FOR HEALTH DEVELOPMENT based in Japan
http://www.who.or.jp/tm/index.html contains papers on traditional
medicine. Some of these may relate to the Japanese experience.

Is a case study into the problems faced by one city in post-war Japan
and the efforts made to produce a comprehensive health care plan for
its inhabitants.

While searching I came across his reference which may be worth
following up at a University Library: Otsuka, Yasuo. 1976. "Chinese
Traditional Medicine in Japan". In Asian Medical Systems: A
Comparative Study, pp. 322-340. Edited by Charles M. Leslie. Berkeley:
University of California Press.

Please do not hesitate to ask for clarification of any of this
research.
