A company named ALUKA of Chicoutimi, Quebec several years ago made a
lightweight telescoping crutch and walking stick for compactness in
travel. They were subsequently bought out by Paramedic of the same
town and who apparently quit making them. The relevant patents were US
4809725 and Canadian 1264265 with inventor Patrick Champigny.
A friend has one in use. I wish to buy one or two of these either new
or used.
Where can I purchase these now and for how much each?

Thank-you for your question.
So that we can help you better would it be possible for you to tell us
a little more?
Are you interested in any other kind of collapsible walking stick or
must it be this particular type?
Are you yourself located in Canada?

I am located in the US-Tenn and will mail order the item if possible.

I have seen no other collapsable system as good as this. I know how to
make a collapsable system out of spare parts that might eventually do
the trick.BUT This ALUKA is the item I want. I have tried it and it is
very good. No other answer will please me at this time.

Thanks for your input. Folding canes are fairly common. The company
you suggest makes good and colorful ones.
My pursuit is of a combination crutch and cane that telescopes and
there is a particular one-ALUKA that is excellent. See the patent
sketch on the Canadian patent to see how well conceived it is. I have
seen them through a friend that bought one 7-8 years ago. I gave the
company, successor company, address, and patents. All I need now is a
real lead for one from somewhere.
