Hi, Thanks for providing this interesting bit of trivia to work on! The answer to the question is 'Halifax Town Football Club'. I found the answer to this question at the following sites: On the official club site it says 'Other sports to be staged at The Shay include Speedway, Rugby League and in the winter of 1963 ice-skating when the pitch was frozen'. http://www.halifaxafc.co.uk/club/view/stadium/0,,10437,00.html There is also reference to this incident at the website of the National Football Museum: '...the winter of 1963 was far worse. Hardly any football was played between January and March and the season overran into June. Halifax even opened the Shay as an ice-rink to earn some much-needed money.' http://www.nationalfootballmuseum.com/news/news6.htm Search Strategy: I used Google with the following search terms: 'Halifax Winter 1963 ice' ://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=Halifax+winter+1963+ice&meta=cr%3DcountryUK%7CcountryGB Kind regards, Ali |
