Could you tell us what your Service Tag No. is. (It's labelled at the
bottom of the laptop.) And also what operating system you're using
(Windows 98, XP, etc.), and the model no. of the CD writer...
Answer
There is no answer at this time.

Ah, thats simple. It is not a firmware update you need my friend. If
you are using Adaptec writer software for newer cd writers.. when i
say new.. maybe the past year or so, and they are not compatible with
the software, it will say that. The fix to that is this: Update to
Roxio - they bought out adaptec. As a tech at gateway, we had to do a
lot of that. it was a pain. But Roxio is the update for Adaptec.. and
they are at 5.0+ so that'll fix it.

Does the cd-writer appear as a valid drive letter in explorer/my
computer?
If the answer is YES and it works as a normal cdrom drive using
windows explorer, then the answer by mocaiv-ga is correct - a patch
for Easy CD Creator is neccesary - this is due to cd-writer software
having to know the 'signature' of EVERY CD-rom drive out there, and if
a newer drive comes on the market then Easy CD Creator will NOT 'know'
the drive until it has been updated....

I think Nero is much better at CD writing.. at least in my experience it has been.
