I would like a comprehensive list of web sites/on-line resources where
internet and security professionals visit to learn and/or discuss
internet/network security topics.

Hi saxel-ga,

As you may already know, different types of professionals have
different information needs regarding security which can range from
basic terminology to how one can protect their own systems. Of course,
there is no short supply of technically geared individuals who want to
learn the ins and outs of specific network configurations, software,
and operating systems.

Below is a comprehensive list of sites targeting the professional; in
other words, sites that provide the individual with information that
can be later applied to a business situation.

O'Reilly Security Center - http://security.oreilly.com/ 
O'Reilly is a leader in technical and computer book documentation for
Security. This page links to several online books on various
subtopics.
 
AntiSearch Computer Security - http://www.AntiOnline.com/ 
Index of sites that give technical and specific information about
security as related to computers, networks, and software. Also a
listing of other related links for books. This is also discussion
forums, online chats, and articles pertaining to recent
security-related events.

ISSA - International Systems Security Association -

An international non-profit organization of information security
professionals and practitioners. It provides education forums,
publications and peer interaction opportunities.

simple site with lots of great information if you don't mind doing
some digging.

General Computer Security technical support forums and mutual help
system for computer professionals. Selling and recruiting forbidden.

Computer Security Book List - http://www.chuvakin.org/books/ 
Provides a list of security books with their online availability and
short review, currently has 105 books and growing. This one is great
if you are looking for an in-depth book about a particular aspect of
security.

Computers > Security, and then screened to meet your requirements.
Some of the descriptions are the ones listed on the directory page,
but I have changed or added to most of them to provide additional
information about the respective sites.

Not as comprehensive as I would like liked, but did find some sites
that weren't on my radar.
