Hi there, I am looking for the information on the market size of the hedge fund technology market. By this I mean the estimated spend by hedge fund managers (sometimes called Alternative Investment Managers) on information technology to support their enterprises. I am particularly focused on understanding the market for technology products which support quantitative modeling techniques. Ideally, I would like to find out: - the total current value of the market - the rate of growth over the next few years (or a projected future value) - the key vendors in the space - any published large deals If the information points towards growth in this market then any information of the drivers of this growth would be appreciated. I need sources. Thanks in advance. |

I put total hedge fund tech expenditures about 1.5 billion. Of that, Risk management, - the closest catagory I keep is 220 million. This number is backwards engineered from financial IT expenditures and is pared down per segments (data, hardware, integration, CRM etc) and management types (ie bank, BD, insurance, advisor, mutual fund, hedge fund etc.) But from here, I do not think that quantitative modeling is that substainital, at least so far as trading models go. Remember, if you are working with a trading model you are normally up against in house development. |
