do I find the exact date when it was installed?

Could you please explain what you mean by "installed some memory on my
hard drive"? Normally, the amount of "memory" (not really the best
word to use) on a hard drive is fixed and normally can't be expanded
without reformatting the drive. Is that what you mean? Thanks.

May be your friend added memory to your CPU in your motherboard.
Please clarify.

Hi nosan

There might be ways to tell when it was
added by files present or logfiles.

What operating system is on the computer?

I think you may be referring to your tower, not your "hard drive".

Your hard drive, like memory is just one of the parts installed into
your computer.

I dont believe any home-user OS likely to the one you are using keeps
track of such hardware changes, so i dont believe you will find this
information logged on your machine.

Your best bet would be to call upon the friend who installed it and
see if he remembers, otherwise maybe you have a store receipt or a
credit card statement that shows the day you purchased it, which i
suppose could give you a relative time period.
