I am trying to find out about this spa procedure which reduces fat on
your body. It is available at Greenhouse Spas. I was wondering if it
is available in the Sacramento/San Francisco area. I would also like
some more information on how the procedure works. I read about it in
Self magazine Sept issue.

Hi tracybug:

Thanks for the interesting question.

If you've already been looking for information on the Web for this
treatment, you might have been having trouble because of the spelling
you were using. You likely mistook a capital "I" for a captial "L".
The correct spelling of the treatment is:

Ionithermie Algae Detox Treatment

While many beauty supply companies sell and many spas and salons use
this treatment, it appears that the Ionithermie company does not have
its own web presence.

I have been able to find the following information about the
treatment:

"An effective, non-invasive way to reduce the appearance of cellulite,
tone the body, and give the skin a smooth, healthy appearance.
Products rich in Algae, Kelp, and Ivy are applied to the skin. Warm
natural clay infused with Algae is applied and electrodes are placed
in specific areas on the body. Galvanic and Faradic stimuli are
applied, propelling the active ingredients into the skin and toning
the muscles. Then a cooling body lotion is applied."
From: http://www.cbeauty.com/menu.asp#ionithermie

"Created by a surgeon in France, Ionithermie Algae-Detox is the only
therapy available that helps to detoxify the body and offer
substantial inch loss after just one session. Combining 21st century
technology with vegetation from the sea floor, you will experience the
firming and toning of the body after just one session."

"The treatment...also improves a slow metabolism and boosts energy
levels."

So, the type of fat that this treatment works on is cellulite. For
more information on this type of fat, see:

BodyFAQ
http://bodyfaq.com/cellulite.htm

This treament is readily available on cruise ships and at European
spas (especially in the UK). While there are several spas in the L.A.
area that provide this treatment, the only one I was able to find
online in your part of California is:

TheGreenhouse Spa & Salon
1158 Chestnut Street
Menlo Park, CA 94025-4312
For appointments call:
650/325-0700
Direction: http://www.cbeauty.com/store_locations.asp#menlo_park

A 1 hour treatment is likely to cost around $140, with a recommended
course of three treatments being over $300.

I hope that this information is what you were looking for. If you have
any need of clarification, please ask before rating this answer.

Thanks.
