I think the list should include 1) Frank Lloyd Wright and 2) Morris
Lapidus. You should know that I am as intern to a curator for the San
Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) and am doing all the research
for an exhibition on GLAMOUR... and its aesthetic connotations in
Architecture, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Photography and
Fashion from mid-century to the present. As a base line for the
research I am constructing a TIME LINE from 1950 forward that lists
for example all applicable architects, industrial designers, etc. I
would also like to include the most famous or glamourized examples of
their work. Could you also provide me a list of works of the
architects you listed
that epitimize the notion of glamour?

The list should definitely also include Bernard Tschumi, John Hejduk,
Peter Eisenman and Neil Denari. Check out Tschumi for his follies in
Parc la Villette and his 'Architecture of Pleasure', which means
luxury basically, very close to glamour but with as different look
however. And do check out Mies van der Rohe and Neil Denari for
glamourous architecture. I wrote a short review on Mies called "Sacral
Glamour", which is found at http://folie-fatale.com/reviews/mies
(replace 'mies' by 'denari' and you'll find something about Denari).
And Le Corbusier officially built 'for the people' but practically he
loved big cars and big villas photographed with both classy and sexy
female models. If I am right Richard Neutra built almost exclusively
splendid luxurious villas (near LA). Jean Nouvel shows to know a lot
about glamour in his Institute du Monde Arabe in Paris, built for a
tremendously rich Saudi oil sjiek. Rem Koolhaas has a fine nose for
worlds of glamour in the stories he writes down sometimes, but he
seems to have difficulty in actually making such splendid,
sophisticated, sexy, luxurious objects; he can't let loose mixing such
with trashy materials for example. The rest of the list is in my view
not so interesting for the theme. Finally, if I may be so immodest;
check out my own project of glamour in architecture at
http://folie-fatale.com/projects/foliefatale/index.html . Good luck
with this more than interesting theme! Yours, Hajo Schilperoort

Surprised that the foregoing omit Richard Rogers (UK) co-architect
with Renzo Piano of the Paris Centre Pompidou; Norman Foster(UK again)
who added the dome to the Berlin Reichstag; and I M Pei (China/US) who
added the pyramid to the Louvre.

I agree about Denari. The glamour theme is pretty excellent. May be
you could have a look on my own projects too. But my theme and
projects would be more about erotism and bodies... Give me feedbacks.
Best regards.
