We are planning a small rally of 40 people maximum in NYC on Saturday, October 5th from about 10Am-5PM. We need to know where it is and is not permitted to rally and if we need a permit. We want to stand on a sidewalk and hold signs and hand out flyers to people interested in our cause. Our cause is to save our favorite TV series, "Farscape" from cancellation by getting more viewers to tune into new episodes in january. If ratings increase, another network might pick it up. We do not plan to use any amplification or bull horns. We just want to get the word out to try and save our show. We wonder if we would be allowed to stand in a row on any sidewalk in the city, or if there are some areas where we would be forced to "move along." We are thinking of Rockefeller Center or the Times Square Area, but need to know what the rules are. |

There's apparently no information on the web about rally permitting in NYC. To get a permit for Rockefeller Center you would need to contact the Community Affairs officer at the Midtown South Precinct of the New York Police Department at 212-239-9846. Many changes have occured since 9/11 so you'll need to speak directly to the NYPD. |
