I've been using Microsoft Entourage for Mac OS 9.22 and now I am
moving over to a Windows-XP platform and Outlook 2002. I want to KEEP
my email messages from Entourage (various folders) and would like to
relocate them into an Outlook folder. In Entourage, I know that you
simply drag a folder onto the desktop and a MBOX file is created. I
can't seem to find an importer in Outlook to handle this. Can you
help?

Hi handsofstone!!
I found some tools and some methods to do this task.
Searching the web I found the following article at "O'Reilly Network":
"Improving the Outlook for Entourage [Jun. 21, 2002]"
A significant paragraph says:
"...I searched various newsgroups and Web sites through Google, after
looking in vain on Mactopia. One name came up: Paul Berkowitz, who has
developed a number of specialized AppleScripts for Entourage. I found
a newsgroup posting that mentioned he was working on a set of
export-import scripts for Entourage X based on work he had done for
Entourage 2001. Just this week, Paul completed his work on V1.0 and
released "Export-Import Entourage." It is an AppleScript package,
available for download at www.applescriptcentral.com. I exchanged
several email messages with Paul to learn more about his scripts...the
scripts will export just about everything in Entourage to any other
identity of Entourage (either version), to archive text files, and to
Excel, and provide converters for exporting and importing a
subset--Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, and Notes--to and from Outlook (all
Windows versions and Outlook 2001 for Mac) and to other PIMs if they
have Export/Import text file features."
You can read the complete article at
http://www.macdevcenter.com/pub/a/mac/2002/06/21/outlook_applescript.html

You can download the script at "AppleScript Central (.com)", there is
a $12.50 shareware fee. The scripts can be used to import and export
25 contacts only once each way for free as a demo.
Note this comment: "The scripts enable archiving, restoration, and
data synching or transporting. The Outlook and Other Converters
transfer contacts, calendar, tasks and notes - there are instructions
for transferring messages without scripts in the ReadMe."
I think that the script does not transfer messages between Entourage
and Outlook, but donīt worry I found this ReadMe file.
If you want to try this script you can download it at (and then you
can read the ReadMe file that it includes):
http://www.applescriptcentral.com/
or
http://homepage.mac.com/berkowit28/

Continuing searching I found in Google Groups the following post:
"SOLUTION: Transferring Messages between Outlook and Entourage" by
Paul Berkowitz (berkowit@silcom.com)
He confirms that his script donīt transfers messages, but he explains
how to do this manually.
He says
"...The best way of transferring messages is via an IMAP account
(details below), especially if you use Outlook on Exchange Server. But
if you don't have Exchange Server and have hundreds of MB worth of
messages, IMAP transfer at 10 MB a time with a free IMAP account is
going to be far too tedious...I have discovered and tested a method
for transferring both directions via Eudora Windows, which I describe
below. The details are from my new updated
ReadMe in v1.0.8 of Export-Import Entourage...Here follow the adapted
notes from the ReadMe. If you want to transfer other data (contacts,
calendar events, tasks, notes), you'll need the Export-Import
Entourage scripts."
And he follows with the explanations; you can read these at the Google
Groups site (please look for the paragraphs entitled "IMAP" and
"Entourage X to Outlook Windows" - this method is the same to the
Entourage 2001- ):
