<There are lot of websites where magazine editors post requests for freelance writers and photographers to cover events in Europe. I have included links to some of the best sites. I have worked in Europe as a freelance writer for over 10 years and regularly use the internet to find assignments. In my opinion Writers Weekly is one of the best online resources. It has provided me with a number of well-paying assignments. The editor of Writers Weekly is in personal contact with publishers including magazine editors who post details of their latest requirement. You will find all manner of writing jobs including European assignments. It offers a free subscription to its weekly updates of markets for writers. There is also an archive of back issues. Writers Weekly also has a warnings section which identifies publishers who fail to pay for completed work. If you are owed money from a publisher who refuses to pay, Writer Weekly will investigate your case and post the result on its warnings list. Its worth checking out their list before completing an assignment. An alternative way to find European assignments is to search the databases of sites listing magazine requirements. It is best to check directly with the magazine editor that the requirements are still current as some websites are not regularly updated. Lots of magazines also post their latest requirements directly on their own websites. > Additional links: <Writers Weekly.> <http://www.writersweekly.com/> <Freep - For advice on becoming a foreign correspondent and links to jobs.> <http://www.freep.com/jobspage/academy/corresp.htm> <Writers/Photographers Guidelines.> <http://freepages.writing.rootsweb.com/~petersplace/guide.htm> <Writers Guidelines Directory Searchable Database of Writers Guidelines.> <http://www.writerswrite.com/guidelines/> <Writing for Dollars.> <http://www.writingfordollars.com/guidelines.cfm> <Writers Digest - for a subscription of $2.99 a month or $29.99 per year, you get access to a database of magazine requirements.> <http://www.writersdigest.com/guidelines.asp> <A listing of paying markets.> <Writers Markets.> <http://www.writersmarkets.com/index-guidelines.htm> <Absolute Write - links to freelance writing opportunities with magazines. Answer seems to be from a knowledgeable person with experience in the area and gave lots of links. Have only had time to investigate one of them but I think this gave me enough to work with and I couldn't have done it on my own. This answer possibly merits 5 stars but I am answering quickly before I forget to do it and before I have checked other links. |
