What does "making-out" entail by current standards? How would I
explain to a teenager what this is considered?  Thank you.

Hi just_medodadoda, and thanks for your question.

I'm assuming you're referring to the sexual sense of 'making out'. If
so, making out is slang considered slang for necking and having sex
[1] and a "range of activities beginning with kissing and ending
somewhere in heavy petting. It's everything you do with your mouth,
lips, hands and other body parts while your clothes are still on. Of
course, all of this can be done with your clothes off as well, but if
you're already to that point you no longer need our help..." [2]

So by current standards, 'making out' could mean both petting as well
as having sexual intercourse.

Since you're talking with a teenager, I'd highly recommend him/er to
