I need a range of web advertising rates on Dallas/Fort Worth - based websites.
These would be for sites whose primary audience is in Dallas/Fort
Worth. It would help if the audience was in the college age demographic.

Dear adamreed617,

There are several type of sites you can use - those who function as a
portal for these communities; those who function as a news source for
these communities; or some other popular site, which is worth
click-wise to advertise in. Advertising fees vary (naturally) with
size, numbers of clicks on the add, etc. In many cases, fees are *not*
published online, because of business competition and strategic
decisions.

I hope I don't disappoint you by saying, that student unions and
colleges themselves are not sites in which you can advertise -
unfortunately, since they are probably the most visited among your
target group.

Dallas News <http://www.dallasnews.com/> belongs to the Dallas Morning
Post and is probably one of the most highly viewed sites in the
region. Their advertising department can be reached in this page
<http://www.dallasnews.com/advertising/contacts.html>, no fees are
published online.

Owned by the Dallas Morning Post, Channel 8 (local television channel)
also has a highly ranked web-site <http://www.wfaa.com/news/>. Their
details are the same as the DMP regarding advertising.

Guide Live <http://www.guidelive.com/> also belongs to the Dallas
Morning Post but might be more suitable - it deals with entertainment
and events and might attract younger crowd. Dean Edgeworth
(dean.edgeworth@belointeractive.com) is their ad manager and could be
reached at phone - (214) 977-4068.

Star-Telegram.com <http://www.dfw.com> is also a highly read D-FW
site. Their advertising department is at
<http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/contact_us/advertise/> (also without fees
online). They also publish La Estrella
<http://www.dfw.com/mld/laestrella/>, a spanish site/paper.

"D" is a local magazine <http://www.dmagazine.com/>. Please note, that
their advertising department is first and foremost aimed at print
advertising, and not at online one
<http://www.dmagazine.com/contact.html#local>

AOL's Digital City <http://www.digitalcity.com/dallas/> has another
entertainment/events guide in the region. Advertising with them is
advertising with AOL, with all its benefits and disadvantages,
price-wise and click-wise. Their ad department could be contacted here
<http://mediaspace.aol.com/index.adp?fname=ldcadops>

Another local guide of a larger site is Dallas Ft. Worth of the High
School Graduate, at <http://www.thehighschoolgraduate.com/local/dallasftw.htm>.
Their advertising options are available here
<http://www.thehighschoolgraduate.com/fastfacts/options.htm>

College students usually rent, rather than buy or already own,
apartments. Therefore, it might be advisable to advertise at
apartments.com <http://www.apartments.com/search/oasis.dll?rgn1=9&page=Area&state=TX&prvpg=2&cont.x=59&cont.y=22>
Their advertising scheme is available here
<http://mm1.advariant.com/mm/index.jsp?affiliate=apartments> and can
be between $160 to $9,000 a month. They claim that 61% of their
visitors are people between 18-31.

Christian youth might be easier to reach through the site "Dallas Ft.
Worth Christian Concerts" <http://www.dfwchristianconcerts.com/>. They
claim: "Our web-site is viewed by over 2000 individuals each month,
and our bi-weekly email reaches over 500 subscribers...Banner ads on
our main web-site page are $25 per 2000 views (roughly four weeks at
our current volume), and a headliner 6 line colour text ad on our
email magazine is $10. We can create a simple (mostly text) banner ad
for no charge, or you can provide your own. We can accept credit card
payments for these services through Paypal. If you don't have a PayPal
account, click here for more information, and receive $5 for signing
up." (source: <http://www.dfwchristianconcerts.com/contactus.html>)

Top education sites can be also a good solution. The top education
sites in general (not particularly Texan), are
<http://www.top9.com/careers_education/education_resources.html>. It
is sad to note, that most of them are "cheat" sites (selling or
publishing plagiarised works). You can also see popular sites here
<http://www.top9.com/careers_education/university_resources.html>

You can also try the College Schoplarship
<http://www.college-scholarships.com/texas.htm> site on Texas - it is
highly ranked.

However, all of these many solutions, one was neglected by you - why
wait until your surfers go to one site or another? Catch them at the
search engine. Google has an advertising plan by search words - if
someone searches for "Dallas" or "college", your ad could appear next
to the results. More details are available here
<://www.google.com/ads/> (Note: Google Researchers are *not*
affiliated or working in Google. We are free-lancers. I wouldn't have
gotten less money or got sacked had I wrote that this service sucks.
It just happens to be that I think this service might be perfect for
your needs).

My search terms, among others, were:
Dallas "Fort Worth" fashion
Dallas "Fort Worth" mtv
Dallas "Fort Worth" "students
Dallas "Fort Worth" "student union"
Dallas "Fort Worth" fraternities
Dallas "Fort Worth" singles
Dallas "Fort Worth" school
Dallas "Fort Worth" wedding
Dallas "Fort Worth" chat
Dallas "Fort Worth" parties
Dallas "Fort Worth" dorms
Dallas "Fort Worth" clubs
Dallas "Fort Worth" college

I think that answered your question. However, if you need
clarifications, please let me know.

Information was somewhat helpful, but left much of the legwork to me.
For $25, I expected some actual ad rate numbers in the answer, not
links that led me to e-mail addresses. Overall, disappointing. I was
hoping that this would save me some time, but I could have gotten this
list of sites by myself. What I really wanted was a professionally
produced *average* of online Ad rates for DFW-based websites
