Can you provide free (or inexpensive) methods of marketing and
promoting a new club event held at an upmarket Brisbane venue on a
Sunday evening (5 weeks from now) for a professional/corporate market
between the ages 25 and 35? (The key purpose of this event is to
promote networking in an ambience that is art/music focused.)

<The two most effective ways of getting free publicity for an event
are
free listings in websites and sending a press release to the local
media.

There are a number of websites that list events in Brisbane that allow
you to list your event free of charge. I have included details of
eights such sites below.

To get free publicity in the local media, you need to prepare a press
release giving the details of your event. Try to make your event
newsworthy - something that a journalist will want to publish. Send it
to all the local weekly/daily newspapers, radio stations and
television stations at least two weeks before your event.

You can also try contacting the journalists directly. Find out the
names of journalists covering events and go and see them in person at
their office. I’ve done this myself and have ended up with full page
coverage of events in newspaper and magazines plus television reports
on the local news (all for free). If you have photographs that
accompany your story you also stand a greater chance of having an
article published.>

Hi

Flyers, use a cool design and print in colour at your local print shop

Posters, full colour with cool design, don't be cheap get a fewer
number of better posters and put them up yourself in good spots
(clothing stores etc)

Radio station, if you have a Radio show use it for announcing your
nights and the station might give you free adverts if they like you

You can cut the costs of this type of promotion by getting local
businesses to put their logo on the promotional material - though
depends if you like that!

Remember to be original and put yourself out there. This kind of
promotional material is often the first contact people on the street
will have with you. You want to make a good first impression don't
you?

When your handing out your flash new flyers make sure that you take
time to talk to people. You've got to have heart if you want to get
anywhere in the underground music scene.

flyer and they will come :D
