Hi, Questions from Taiwan student and hope Google can help me. I hope
in the years i can get admission to study the Engergy Science in the
Universities or colleges in U.S., although it's really crazy that i
want to study the "Renewable Energy" or "Energy Management" Science
and hope i can get the PHD degree (if there is the Energy Science
Department or academy in the U.S. university). I tried to use the
Internet and Google search the information but it's few information
about the department in the universities or it's a mess from all these
massive articles. Believe it or not, i majored in the
telecommunication and now worked in the biggest telecom company in
East South Asia, but this is my dream, i dont want my life, only 25
years old, spend most time in the Internet "Business" or something
like that, please help me make my willing comes true. If i can find
information about all the institute which has the energy science
department and offering the Master or PHD degree, i will be very
appreciate about that. Thank you all.

Hi newsmac,

That’s a wonderful dream you have! Let’s see if I can help you find
what you are looking for.

Your best bet is to use the Peterson’s Colleges and Universities
website. From this Graduate School search page :

http://www.petersons.com/GradChannel/code/search.asp?sponsor=1

Choose search page choose ENERGY MANAGEMENT

Then click SEARCH

It will then prompt you to choose a location. Choose UNITED STATES.

Click SEARCH

You should get 10 returns with links to the Universities’ home pages,
email addresses and other information about the programs.

------------------------------------------------

I also found this, somewhat outdated site ---

Directory of Energy-Related Graduate Programs in U.S. Universities
1992, The Energy Foundation

This list can be viewed by University, State, or by area of interest.
It may be slightly outdated since it was compiled in 1992, but would
certainly give you a good start. Unfortunately, it does not provide
direct links to the university sites themselves. But it should not be
difficult to find the University online once you know the name.

http://sol.crest.org/renewables/grad/index.html

---------------------------------------------------

DEPT OF ENERGY
Renewable Energy Education and Training Programs

Not all of these offer graduate programs, but the list provides links
directly to the University websites so you can check easily.

http://www.eren.doe.gov/consumerinfo/refbriefs/t400.html

----------------------------------------

Here are some Universities that I found which offer Masters Degrees or
PhD’s in some type of Energy Science.

BOSTON UNIVERSITY – Center for Energy and Environmental Studies
Master of Arts in Energy and Environmental Analysis

http://www.bu.edu/cees/academics_gra.html

UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA – BERKELEY
The Energy and Resources Group (ERG)
ERG offers two-year MA and MS degrees in Energy and Resources, as well
as a PhD.

http://socrates.berkeley.edu/erg/

VIRGINIA TECH
Environmental Sciences and Energy Systems
“The university offers 26 undergraduate and 30 graduate Environmental
Sciences and Energy Systems-related programs in six of its colleges..”

http://www.unirel.vt.edu/cci/enviropillars.html

--------------------------------------

Further information –

I have already given you most of the links on this page, but you may
want to look at some of the other training programs and projects
listed –

DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY – HIGHER EDUCATION
http://www.eren.doe.gov/education/higher_education.html

Finally, I don’t know what your current education level is, but I
noticed there is a graduate degree called: ENERGY ENGINEERING. You may
want to check into that program if you are qualified.

For example:

UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA
“Master of Science with majors in chemical engineering, civil
engineering, electrical engineering, geology, and mechanical
engineering; and Doctor of Philosophy with majors in energy
engineering and geology.”

http://www.und.edu/dept/sem/html/departments.html

So that should give you a good start in finding a University. If
anything I’ve said isn’t clear, please feel free to ask for
clarification.

Good luck in pursuing your dream!

-K~

Use these search terms in Google to find more information.

“Energy Science” university graduate
“Energy Studies” university
“Energy Engineering” university

When you get to a University website, you need to look at their
“Graduate Programs” or “Graduate School Programs.” This is where you
will find Masters and PhD programs.

Hi again newsmac,

I'm glad the information is useful to you. I did find one more thing
that might help you:

THE ASSOCIATION OF ENERGY ENGINEERS
http://www.aeecenter.org/

There is a lot of information on their website and also people you can
email. Maybe they can give you more ideas.

Good luck!
