Hi manjusha-srinivas:

Good question. By experimentation, it is quite easy to find that a
goldfish's breathing rate decreases as the temperature decreases, and
increases as the temperature increases.

I was able to find the following data to back this up:

http://www.stemnet.nf.ca/d6vsatf2000/s5/project8/observations.html

The table near the top shows data for both large and small goldfish:

10 degrees Celcius = 50 degrees Fahrenheit
* small goldfish breathes 56 times per minute
* large goldfish breathes 54 times per minute

20 degrees Celcius = 68 degrees Fahrenheit
* small goldfish breathes 92 times per minute
* large goldfish breathes 78 times per minute

For the entire experimental process this person went through, start
on:

http://www.stemnet.nf.ca/d6vsatf2000/s5/project8/Introduction.html

Another page with data I found was at:

http://www.misd.wednet.edu/~mike_vanorden/pastdata.htm

The table at the very bottom shows data for other temperatures, but
confirms the hypothesis that breathing rate goes up when temperature
goes up. (These numbers seem to be more in line with the "small"
goldfish data from our first example above.

I hope this helps!
