I find the Autotext feature in MS Word extremely useful to insert standard paragraphs or chunks of text into Word documents as I am typing them. But of course thats only available in Word. Is there a small program or add-in that performs a similar function in other situations especially when typing an email into Outlook 2000? (I don't want to use Word as my email editor). Ive tried using a variety of enhancements to the Windows clipboard, but they all seem pretty cumbersome and make you select pre-defined texts using drop-down menus and the like. Many are also very limited if one wants to set up a large number (eg 50) standard texts. Id like something that is very quick and which allows easy selections without use of the mouse. |

I recommend GhostwriterXML, a freeware. It works more like AutoCorrect, and can be downloaded here: http://download.com.com/3000-2064-6371032.html?tag=lst-0-3 |

Michael -- Outlook has the ability under Tools/Options/Signatures to add a block of text to any message. Though intended for the final or signature line, multiple "signatures" or text blocks can be used. It would be an ideal way to add boilerplate text without using an add-on product. Dear Omnivorous Thanks for your comment, but I think signatures have to be selected via the Insert menu. There may be some keyboard shortcuts, but this doesn't have the ease of use that I was looking for. Dear '901 (can I call you '901?) That's exactly what I was after, and already I've downloaded and bought the business version. It seems excellent. Can you please post your comment as an answer? |
