Trying to find the free software that automatically opens all windows
to fullsize. Had it, crashed, lost it, counting on you folks to find
it. |

I have a few questions:
1. What operating system are you using?
2. What browser are you using?
3. Will you accept, as an answer, only a link to the program that you
used to have? If so, we will need more details about it so that we can
try to locate that exact software. If you will accept any free
software that will full-size your windows, it will be much easier for
us to help you.
Thanks!

I just realized that I failed to mention that until a crash on the
20th I was running Win 98SE. That was the system that had the
"Full-size" freeware which I had found somewhere.
Sorry 'bout that!

Hi Michaelb44,
I think I've run down what you're looking for, although there's no way
to know if it's what you had before. This is one of those questions
that looked easier at first blush than it turned out to be, so if this
program doesn't get the job done for you, please ask for a
clarification and I'll dig some more.
This is a freeware program by Jonatan Dahl (and yes, that is how he
spells his name :) called "IE New Window Maximizer 2.2":
A backup solution might be the $14.95 "IE Maximizer 1.20" from Liberty
Software:
Here's one more you might want to check out. It has the added feature
of being able to keep windows from opening TOO large (like some
annoying ads do). It's by John White and is called "Window Sizer V2.05
/ IE Window Maximizer V1.05":
Google search parameters:
windows appearance freeware
windows maximizer
Thanks for your question,

Wanted to say thank you for unearthing the requested program. I
consider it money well spent as I had exhausted all sources known to
me. Your resoursefulness certainly exceeds that of my own. Thanks
again for a speedy resolution to my request.

Thanks for your kind words - glad to be of service. By the way, I just
received confirmation from Jonatan Dahl that his program does indeed
work fine with XP Pro.

Have you tried: 1) start the jiisoft New Window Maximizer Program, 2)
Press Setup key, 3) Check the "Maximize to Fullscreen" box?
Unless I'm not following your question, this procedure results in the
automatic action you're looking for. Let me know if I'm missing the
boat here.

When you say (remember I'm a newbie still) start the program...it
opens at start-up of my system.

If it opens when you start your system, is it running (showing a
button on the taskbar) so that you can click on its button and get a
Windows Maximizer window to open on your screen? If so, do steps 2 & 3
from my last clarification.
If not, please let me know what you mean by "opens at the start-up of
my system".

Hi Eric,
I appreciate your patience with me. I uninstalled the program via
"Add/Remove" in Control Panel. Created a folder on my desktop. Went
back to the site and downloaded it to that new folder. Opened that
folder, right-clicked on it and chose "Extract all." It "installed
successfully" and I see it again in the add/remove area but no icon
appears in the system tray or the taskbar (no where along the bottom
of the screen.) I mis-spoke earlier when I said it runs/opens at
start-up of my computer. I had the previous one (before crash and
install of new operating system) configured to run upon start-up of my
computer. In the folder on the desktop is another folder now with a
"Cabinet File", a "Setup", and a "Setup LST' icons. It seems, to my
feeble mind, that it's installed, awaiting being opened/started, but I
haven't a clue as to how to proceed.
Didn't know your technical expertise would be required in addition to
your resoursefulness now did you? No hard-feelings if you want to
bail-out now, you earned your money already as far as I'm concerned.
Thanks!
Gratefully,
Mike

Mike, no problem having patience with you, but trying to do all this
through this system is certainly awkward :) Oh well, we shall prevail.
If you see the program in Add/Remove, presumably you have it
installed, so let's walk this dog - 1) get to your Desktop and
doubleclick (dc) on My Computer, 2) dc on the C: drive, 3) dc on
Program Files folder, 4) dc on IE New Windows Maximizer folder, 5)
right click on IE New Windows Maximizer.exe file and select Copy from
the menu, 6) close the folder and get back to your desktop, 7) put the
mouse over an unused part of the desktop and right click to get a menu
of desktop options, 8) left click on the Paste Shortcut option on the
menu, 9) that should give you an icon on your desktop for starting the
program. Now, start the program and do the steps given in my previous
clarification to adjust your settings to automatically fullsize all
new IE windows.
Now, in order for this thing to start whenever you boot in the future,
do this (and don't copy anything new with your mouse in between this
and the steps just given above): 1) right click on the Windows Start
Button (bottom left of your screen probably unless you've moved it),
2) select the Open option, 3) dc on the Progams folder, 4) dc on the
Startup folder, 5) point the mouse to an unused part of the newly
opened Startup folder and right click to get a menu, 6) select Paste
Shortcut to put the Maximizer shortcut into the Startup folder, 7)
close the Startup folder. Now that you've placed that icon in the
Startup folder, Maximizer will open whenever you reboot.
Good luck!

Part of my confusion came about because there is NO exe. anywhere to
be found. But when following your steps as outlined, I finally
concluded that the icon with the shortcut arrow had to be the required
file, and conducted the remaining steps that resulted in the
successful completion of the desired goal.
You're right, thanks to your patience and knowledge, "we" did
prevail!!
Thanks again for all of your help!

Congratulations!
I'm guessing that you've got the "hide extensions of known file types"
option turned on in Internet Explorer (which powers the My Computer
function). That would explain why you don't see the .exe. At any rate,
if it's workin', it's workin'. Good Job, Mike!
