If you're looking for quality, I would recommend looking at the
rankings done by Institutional Investor magazine ("II") or the Wall
Street Journal. Institutional investors typically use reports by
analysts at Wall Street firms to help them research the stocks they
are purchasing for funds, such as pension funds. II and the Wall
Street Journal track how well analysts are regarded (either by
surveying insitutional investors or by looking at how accurate each
analysts stock recommendations where).
To find the II ranks go to (you may have to fill out a free
registration):

The top ten firms with the most total positions mentioned are shown on
this free list.
The Wall Street Journal rankings are available at wsj.com, but do not
appear to be available for free.
Also the following site came up under a search for "investment bank
league tables" which are based on the volume of business conducted by
each investment bank, and will be an indication of size and
specialization rather than quality.

I hope this was useful. I'm not yet a Google Researcher, but hope to
be soon. If this answered your question, let me know with a comment. |
