Question ID: 68743
I am currently in the market for a new alarm clock radio. The problem
is that I, like many people, prefer to sleep in a dark room and thus
dislike annoying backlighting that cannot be deactivated. I want
either a system that has backlighting that can be turned down to the
point at which it is disabled. Can you find it for me?

To clarify...I would accept either a good quality (highly rated with
warranty) radio alarm clock that either had a very passive backlight
(the kind that doesn't project searing eyebeams into my retinas while
I sleep) or one that has a deactivatable backlight.

What about this?

It's not a clock-radio, it's a clock and alarm. It's expensive, but
gets reviews as being a quality product, and the only negatives seem
to be that it's too hard to see the main panel in the dark. Which I
think you'll regard as a plus! A reviewer at another site said "It
will not keep you up at night if you are like me, and have to have
total darkness to sleep.":

I'm a little worried by the fact that the manufacturer warranty only
lasts for 90 days, and that it has no radio.

Hrm...something higher quality, perhaps than this, as it also would
appear as though it's easy to mash several buttons by mistake. A good
step in the right direction, though. ;)
